The mythical bird "Phoenix" supposedly renews itself by burning and rising from the ashes, and KCSP has done this twice.
Not every company has had to earn a logo and this one was no "Day at the beach". The first major disaster to strike KCSP was in 1978 when a 3-Alarm fire engulfed the building located at 1408 Kansas Ave.
Gene (Steve's dad) simply walked around the corner onto Truman Road and struck a deal, he now had a building but all the machines and machinery had to be retrieved from the burned pile and put back into service. In no time at all they were back supplying their customers with quality machined parts, that is of course....
On February 2, 1995, while watching the news, we again saw KCSP going up in flames!!! It was a devastating sight to stand there watching what we all had worked so hard for get literally drowned with 1000's of gallons water on a very cold and dark night. We lost 40plus machines and went to a skeleton crew and through the resourcefulness and perseverance of Steve and his crew, KCSP was back doing what we do best, supplying our customers with parts and products in a manner that suits them best!!!

Kansas City Screw Products was founded in 1943 by Frank Leighter. In 1963, Gene Leighter "took over the helm" up until his untimely death in 1982. Our current CEO Gertrude Leighter and President Steven Leighter have continued the tradition of supplying our customers with quality precision machined products.
